Easy Composites are recognised leaders in prepreg technology. In this category you will the vacuum bagging materials and equipment that are most commonly used when undertaking vacuum bagging of prepreg laminates for out-of-autoclave (OOA) or autoclave cure.
Laminating and curing of prepregs typically involves laminating prepreg reinforcement (which already contains the resin content), and possibly core materials, into the mould before vacuum bagging the laminate and loading the whole assembly into an oven or autoclave to cure at elevated temperature under vacuum or positive pressure.
Specific vacuum bagging stacks will vary slightly with different prepregs and processes but typically involve a non-perforated release film and at least partial coverage of the laminate using a breather layer before the bagging film which is sealed to itself or the mould flange using sealant tape. A through-bag connector is used to connect the vacuum bag to the vacuum supply and silicone vacuum hose is used to withstand oven temperatures. We have a number of video tutorials demonstrating how to use prepregs in our learning area.
