VBT155 High performance self-releasing vacuum bagging film for processing hollow/tubular sections, the outer release coating allows the film to be used in direct contact with resins and prepregs. The gusset fold format makes accurate placement easy and improves the expansion and conformity in complex geometries. Typical applications are the internal bagging of tubes and application such as bike frames, air ducts, masts, foils, shafts etc.
Typical Uses
Compared to many bagging films, VBT155 offers superior flexibility and elongation which improves consolidation and pressure, especially in tight corners or over particularly complex mould shapes. This superior flexibility results in less 'bridging', reduced pin-holing and improved surface finish of laminates - especially for sensitive 'out-of-autoclave' curing processes.
VB155 has also been designed to provide improved resistance to accidental tears and puncture during handling making it a preferred choice in busy manufacturing environments.
The film is suitable for use up to a maximum temperature of 160°C.
How To Buy
This vacuum tubular bagging film is available to buy in a folded 5lm pack, by the linear metre (10lm minimum order) or in wholesale rolls of 200lm. Please choose how you would like to purchase the film from the drop-down list above.
The film is in gusset fold format and available in 4 widths: 50mm, 100mm, 150mm and 250mm (width of flat tube with the gusset unfolded) Please select the width you require from the drop-down list above.
Further Information
Multilayer Reliability
VBT155 uses multiple layers for maximum reliability. Multilayer technology eliminates problems caused by imperfections, pin holes or weaknesses in the film by combining layer after layer into a single, ultra-reliable film.
Fold Format
VBT155 is supplied in lay flat tube on the 50mm width and a gusset fold format on sizes 100mm, 150mm and 250mm The gusset fold is advantageous over standard lay-flat-tube (LFT) as it is easier to accurately place in the mould and can expand more freely without having to slide against the laminate which minimises bridging and improves conformity in difficult to access areas.
Typical Use
VBT155 Tubular Vacuum Bagging Film is typically used to consolidate hollow section prepreg laminates internally into a female mould to produce tubular moulded parts such as bike frames, duct-work and masts. As the film is self-releasing it is commonly used directly against the laminate without requiring the use of release film and breather, this reduces the bulk of the vacuum stack which is especially helpful when used for components with a smaller diameter.
When used in blind or closed end tubes, the film can be easily sealed at one end using an impulse heat sealer as would be used for polyethylene packaging.
Although most hollow/tubular applications will be best suited to a prepreg production process, the film is equally compatible with hand lay up and resin infusion methods.

The film itself is 75µm thick.
Both sides of the tube film are self-releasing due to the film being made of naturally releasing nylon.
