Years in the making, the Red Bull Skateboard Speed Record was the result of extensive planning, preparation and technical development, bringing together world-class downhill skateboarding and engineering.
The story all starts with an email. One email, a shared passion for pushing boundaries, and a friendship that would turn into one hell of a journey. Years of blood, sweat and tears went into designing, developing and building the Aerodynamic helmets , Skateboard and other equipment for Diego Poncelet’s world record attempt with Red Bull.
Everything Aaron and the team had learnt in previous projects led them onto this path. Along with the countless hours in the workshop, endless development, problem-solving and pushing the limits of what could be achieved, with so much work behind the scenes, all culminating in this one moment.
For Aaron, this project was about more than breaking a record. This was in tribute to his late friend Pete Connolly, the man who previously held the world record. Sadly, Pete passed away before he could witness this moment. It was incredibly important to Aaron that the team paid tribute to Pete and recognised what he had achieved. Records are made to be broken, but the people who set them and the legacy they leave behind should never be forgotten. This project was about pushing the sport forward while honouring someone who had paved the way.
On 22 September 2026, Diego Poncelet reached an incredible 151.83 km/h (94.34 mph) in Canada, officially setting a Guinness World Records™ title for the fastest skateboard speed downhill in a standing position!
To see Diego achieve this incredible milestone after everything that went into making it happen is difficult to put into words. Aaron has been part of this journey from the beginning, and is immensely proud of Diego, their friendship and what they’ve achieved together.
