Prepregs are not classified as 'dangerous goods' for transport purposes but they do need to be kept frozen when not in use for more than a few days. Because of their perishable nature, prepregs are generally shipped internationally on priority services.
International Shipping
Because we send the majority of 'dangerous goods' by road, it is sometimes not possible to combine prepreg and dangerous goods on the same order for delivery to some countries. If you want to order dangerous goods items (such as resins) and prepregs then the shipping calculator may notify you that you need to place two separate orders.
Customs Clearance of Prepregs
We remind export customers that it is their responsibility clear goods through their local customs. Any delay caused during customs clearance is outside of our control and as such, Easy Composites Ltd cannot refund or replace materials which are found to be damaged or unusable on arrival as a result of delays during customs clearance.
Whilst such delays are very rare, we strongly advise all customers intending to import prepreg materials to contact their local customs agency to seek full clarification of the import procedure and whether delays are likely before placing an order. By placing an order for prepreg materials, you accept these conditions of sale.
Surface ply for our XT135 out-of-autoclave prepreg carbon fibre tooling system. This is an uncured prepreg material and requires an oven or autoclave to cure it.
The XT135 tooling system can be cured in an oven under vacuum pressure only and used to produce high quality carbon fibre moulds/tools suitable for high temperature use. A single layer of this special 250gsm surface ply should be combined with two or more layers of the heavier backing ply should be combined with a single layer of surface ply.
This prepreg reinforcement is 1.25m (1250mm) wide and sold in a choice of prepacked roll lengths.
AVAILABILITY:9 in stock available for immediate shipping
19 more can built in 2-3 days

XT135 is a specialist carbon fibre tooling prepreg system designed to produce dimensionally accurate carbon fibre composite moulds using vacuum bag and oven cure only ( out of autoclave tooling prepreg ).
The tooling system is made up of XT135/S surface ply listed on this page and the XT135/B backing ply.
A lightweight composite mould suitable for modest production volumes can be produced using just one surface and two backing plies (subject to mould geometry) whilst the recommended laminate for a production mould is one surface and four backing plies. See technical datasheet for full details on suggested layups and layup considerations.
Typical Uses
XT135/B is an out of autoclave tooling prepreg backing layer part of the XT135 tooling system developed specifically for out-of-autoclave cure and as such uses a special gelcoat-like filled resin surface. XT135 should be used for the production of composite tools for cure and use out-of-autoclave.
If tools are required for autoclave use then we would suggest our XT180 or XT210 autoclave-cure tooling systems which don’t require filled resins and therefore offer slightly superior shrinkage and higher service temperatures.

Use in Conjunction with CNC Machined Patterns
XT135 is ideal for use with CNC machined patterns to provide a sophisticated means of producing highly accurate composite moulds from a 3D CAD design.
The 3D CAD designed component is CNC machined from a high quality epoxy tooling board such as EB700 Epoxy Tooling Board including any flanges or splits that are required. The machined pattern is lightly finished by hand and then sealed and glossed using S120 Advanced Board & Mould Sealer. The pattern is then prepared using Easy-Lease Chemical Release Agent and is now ready to be used to produce the female mould using the XPREG® XT135 prepreg tooling system.
For a lightweight mould, a single layer of XT135/S surface ply is layered directly onto the prepared epoxy tooling board pattern. Two layers of XT135/B backing ply are then added to the laminate. The laminate is then vacuum bagged (using R120 P3 release film and BR180 breather) and then oven-cured under vacuum (see technical datasheet for cure cycle).
Once cured and post-cured, the resulting mould will be a highly accurate, temperature stable mould ideally suited for use with prepregs such as XPREG® XC110.

Unfortunately we do not stock any pre-pregs with a flexible resin. The only flexible resin we supply is our EF80 Flexible Epoxy Resin which is suitable for wet lay and vacuum bagged processes.
With the XPREG Tooling Pre-preg system, no additional gelcoat is needed. The Surface layer has sufficient resin in it to allow a good quality mould surface to be produced using just the Tooling system alone.
