Jorgen quickly realized that he needed to up his game from wooden hand carved lures to a more reproduceable results. He therefore started casting lures in P2 Fast Cast PU resin in moulds he cast from CS25 silicone. Along the way he also ended up giving the lures a very durable coating of epoxy, and thereby making EasyComposites a key all round supplier for his lure making.
The first stage is to sketch a design on paper before drawing it in CAD using Fusion 360. The lure master can then be 3D printed and the print sanded and smoothed with the metal eyes added. This master is then used to cast a 2 part mould in CS25 Silicone.
The eye wires and weights are added to the mould, before the P2 Fast Cast PU resin is cast into the mould. The demoulded lure can then be finished off by sanding and painting. Several stages of paint are needed to give the detailed effect as well as the addition of foils to reflect the light. The lure is then finished with a coating of GlassCast 3 to give the final hard wearing outer.
Jorgen is a passionate sports fisher, living in Denmark but fishing where ever he can.
