RC Racing Boats

Elson boats is renowned for producing high quality high speed composite RC boat hulls. With years of experience, the boats are produced to a number of specialised designs including a variety of materials to get the desired performance.

The process starts with making a pattern by hand for the desired hull design. This consists of templating the shape using a combination of wooden ribs and thin plywood sheeting formed over the ribs to give the complex shapes and curves. The pattern is finished off to give a smooth and high gloss finish ready to take a mould from.

The mould material of choice is our Uni-Mould Mould Making system due to its high quality and ease of use. Most of the hulls are at least 2 part moulds often with additional moulds for the deck and removable sections.

The parts themselves are made using a combination of Carbon Fibre and Carbon Kevlar hybrid cloths to get a good level of impact resistance as well as overall strength. Most of the boats are made using our GCX Polyester Gel coat pigmented to a desired colour, followed up with the fabrics laminated using our GPX polyester laminating resin. This gives a good combination of performance, looks and cost.

The finished parts are then trimmed and assembled prior to fitting out the boats with RC equipment, motive power etc as per customer specifications. Elson Racing Boats are used by a variety of people and sold to customers all over the world.
