FusionFix GP Spray Adhesive

FusionFix GP is a non-contaminating, general purpose spray adhesive for use in composites, especially vacuum resin infusion. FusionFix can be used to help hold reinforcements, core materials, inserts and vacuum bagging consumables in position whilst preparing a laminate for infusion.

Thermoplastic-based and rubber-free, FusionFix GP will not contaminate the laminate or affect interlaminar shear strength.

FusionFix™ GP is a high performance infusion spray adhesive designed specifically for temporary positioning of fibre reinforcements, core materials, fixings and bagging consumables during resin infusion and other composites laminating processes. It is ideal as a vacuum infusion spray adhesive.

Unlike conventional spray adhesives, FusionFix™ GP has been developed to be compatible with all resin systems including epoxy, vinylester and polyester resin systems. Even in the case of over-application, FusionFix™ GP will not reduce the interlaminar shear strength of composite laminates.

FusionFix™ GP has been tested and found to be compatible with a wide range of resin systems however you should always conduct your own tests to ensure compatibility.

IMPORTANT: Although a very light application of FusionFix GP is almost undetectable, the product is NOT intended for use as a spray adhesive for unpainted, natural finish cosmetic carbon fibre parts. It is NOT completely transparent and will be visible when used to hold reinforcement directly onto a mould surface.

Instructions for Use

Thoroughly shake the can before use. After use, clean the nozzle through by turning the can upside down and spraying briefly.

Apply the infusion spray tack sparingly, ensuring that you use the least adhesive necessary. Be particularly sparing when spraying directly onto the mould surface to position visible surface layers of reinforcement; a light misting from a distance of 30cm should be sufficient.

For positioning of heavier reinforcements and core materials the adhesive can be applied to one or both surfaces at a coverage of around 30g/m². The adhesive remains tacky for up to 20 minutes but is most tacky after around 2 minutes once the solvent carrier evaporates.

Before clear-coating or painting parts, use alcohol to remove adhesive traces from the surface of the parts.

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for?Ask our technical team a question.
Yes, you can use FusionFix on the core, the reinforcement or both. In common with many spray adhesives there is a 'tack window' during which time the tack level is ideal, after which point the tack will fall away. Providing you bring your elements together during the tack window then the adhesive should be effective.

Yes it can but you only need a light dusting over the area to be cut. Then allow the glue to fully go off until tack free and it can then be cut.

Customer Product Reviews for FusionFix GP Spray Adhesive

This is a very strong spray adhesive that makes the layup of resin infusions that bit easier. However, I never use the adhesive directly on the mold because it leaves residue, even with a light application.
