Flax Fibre Custom Cello

Having made a number of previous instruments, both by traditional methods and using advanced composites, Tim wanted to experiment with using natural materials such as Flax.

Once he had settled on his design and made the pattern, it was possible for Tim to make a high temperature mould. This would then be used to layup and cure the prepreg. For this project, the main material was the FLAXPREG Flax based prepreg material for its natural appearance and also unique properties.

Once cured, the parts could be assembled to make the finished Instrument. Tim was able to incorporate some unique features and exquisite detailing to finish the project off.
