Owing to our strict quality control and the practicalities of manufacturing and shipping carbon fibre sheet, we occasionally have seconds quality, defective or slightly damaged carbon fibre sheet to clear and a heavily discounted price.
These discounted sheets are only available occasionally and only in full 2sqm sheet sizes. Use the drop-down below to check for any discounted single-sided carbon fibre sheet at your chosen thickness.

SECONDS QUALITY - PLEASE READ
Carbon fibre panels can be a very sensitive product to manufacture, handle and store and occasionally a manufacturing fault will occur or a sheet will be damaged or marked during processing or handling.
This listing is for a 2000mm x 980mm (approximately 2sqm) sheet of high strength d carbon fibre panel that has been downgraded by our quality inspection as having a minor defects.

Why might this sheet have been downgraded?
The carbon fibre sheet listed on this page will have been downgraded to a SECOND for one (or more) of the following reasons:
- Weave distortion
- Minor surface pin-holes
- Release agent smears
- Light surface scratches (from handling)
Will this sheet be OK for my application?
The mechanical performance of these downgraded sheets will generally be identical to that of our first quality product and so for structural (non-cosmetic) applications the sheets will perform just as well as the full price version.
For applications where the appearance of the sheet is non critical or where the sheet will be re-finished or painted then these downgraded sheets should be perfectly suitable. Please note that sheets which have been downgraded for surface pin-holes will be more time consuming to paint or clear coat.
Availability
At Easy Composites we would prefer to never have any seconds quality sheets and that is what we are striving towards. This means that downgraded sheets are only available as and when some manufacturing defect or handling error occurs.
The number of downgraded sheets we have available is shown at the top of this listing. As soon as no sheets are available the listing will be removed. We do not accept 'pre-orders' for downgraded sheets.
Pricing
The asking price for our seconds quality or downgraded sheet is set only to reduce our loses and is actually below the production cost of the sheet. Sorry but the price is not negotiable, no volume discounts apply and we cannot custom cut the sheet or sell smaller sizes. Thanks for understanding our reasons on this.

Whether or not cut edges would benefit from sealing really comes down to the application and environment where the sheet will be used, specifically, we're really talking about prolonged or permanent exposure to liquids like water, chemicals, oil etc. In an application where the cut edge of the sheet is going to be regularly or permanently exposed to liquids then it would be beneficial to seal the edge to prevent water ingress which, over enough time, can travel down the fibres and cause delamination.
Based on the above, if edge sealing is deemed advantageous then it's best done using some epoxy resin which should be mixed (according to its accompanying instructions) and either be brushed or smeared on the cut edge, or the cut edge dipped in it. Although it's by no means critical, a particularly suitable resin would be our XCR Epoxy Coating Resin.
It's not possible to give an exact weight because it would depend on many things (how the sheet is supported, what the span in, how the weight it loaded, whether the sheet is a 'free span' (i.e. not bonded/fixed) or bonded or fixed (so you get a 'drum skin' effect). That said, you could be confident that a sheet slid over a hole such that the sheet is supported on all sides would support the weight of an average person quite easily.
