200g Plain Weave 3k Carbon Innegra Cloth (1000mm)

Distinctive-looking black and white hybrid fabric combining the high strength and modulus of a 3k carbon fibre with the low density, impact strength and elongation-to-break of Innegra S fibre.

The fabric is woven in a plain weave providing a balance of drapability and easy handling and displays the characteristic 'I' pattern of a plain weave hybrid fabric. The 200gsm weight is suitable for use as a surface ply or as additional reinforcement anywhere within the laminate.

Innegra is a very low density fibre and adds minimum weight to the carbon fibre laminate but provides high tenacity and a safe failure mode in the event of major damage, often avoiding the total break-up of the laminate that could occur without the damage tolerance of the Innegra.

As well as their impact and abrasion strength, the white Innegra fibre certainly gives the fabric an unusual appearance similar to that of a carbon/Kevlar hybrid. Unlike Kevlar however, the white Innegra fibre is not susceptible to UV discolouration.

Typical Uses

A carbon/Innegra hybrid fabric like this would most commonly be used in applications where a high strength-to-weight ratio is important (provided by the carbon fibre) but where a non-catastrophic failure mode is also required, such as canoes, kayaks, riot shields, race-car panels etc.

The fabric is 1m (1000mm / 39") wide and is sold by the linear metre. The unit price shown is for 1 linear metre. Volume discounts automatically apply for larger quantities of fabric.
