The fabric listed on this page is surplus or quarantined stock from one of the world's largest weavers of carbon fibre and as a result we are able to offer it here for a fraction of its original price. Although manufactured to exacting standards from premium fibre, this stock may have been quarantined for a number of minor reasons such as weight out of tolerance, a cancelled order, minor defects or simply be aerospace stock that's past its shelf-life.

These materials have been purchased as a job-lot and are available only whilst stocks last.

Description

Premium quality 366gsm carbon fibre fabric woven in an 8 harness satin (8HS) weave from high strength Toray T300 3k carbon fibre.

When a light 3k tow is woven to produce heavier weight cloths (higher than around 250gsm) the result is a very smooth fabric with a very close/dense weave pattern. Such fabrics are very easy to handle and show almost no 'gaps'. The '8 harness weave' provides extremely good drape and a very smooth surface finish.

Using one layer of this fabric is almost equivalent to two layers of a conventional 200gsm cloth, resulting in the same smooth finish (reduced print-through) but increasing layup speed and, given the very low price listed here, represents a huge cost saving.
